The Annual Sports Meet 2018, took place on December 15, at The Yenepoya Soccer Grounds, Yenepoya University, Derlakatte. The event was presided over by the Chief-Guest, Mr. Vikas M. Puthran along with the other dignitaries, Mr. Joseph Mechirath, Principal, Mrs. Mishria Javeed, Campus Director, Mrs. Reshma Nayak, Programme Leader and Mr. Kaif Yenepoya, Former Student. The Opening Ceremony began with the Guard of Honour by Ritu P Raj, Head Girl & Vishnu P Alokkan, Head Boy. The Prayer, the School Anthem and the Parade was lead by Aman Akthar Guthigar, Band Major followed by Introduction of the Houses. The Students then assembled House-wise. The Programme was compeered by Sarah Xavier of Grade 8. The Welcome Speech was delivered by Ameena of Grade 8. The School Flag was then hoisted and the Olympic Flame was then lit by Naji of Grade 10, Sports Captain (Boy), after the Torch Light Run was done by the Special Achievers, Misbah, Aman Shetty, Mohammed Riham and Leisha of Grade 10 along with Vindhya Bhandary, Grade 9. Further, was the Oath was taken by Leisha, Sports Captain (Girl). The Students then put up various performances like Zumba (Junior Girls), Umbrella Dance, Saree Display, Football Display and Zumba (Senior Girls). The Chief- Guest addressed the gathering, followed by the Presidential Address given by Mr. Joseph Mechirath, the Principal. The Formal Programme ended with the Vote of Thanks by Anjali of Grade 10. There were different kinds of Track Events and Field Events in which the Students participated actively and won many prices. The Results of ‘The Yenepoya School Fastest Runners’ were declared, Leisha of Grade 10 and Shabeeb of Grade 10 won, in the Girls and Boys Categories respectively. The Closing Ceremony included the lowering of the School Flag and The National Anthem.
