Gandhi Jayanthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanthi Celebration

A general assembly was conducted by the Kannada Department on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi and the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shasthri.

We had the MC Ms Pranavi of grade 5 take us through the assembly beginning with the prayer song by grade 5 students followed by the 'Thought for the day' by Daksh Shetty of grade 4.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. This day is celebrated all over the country. Gandhi Ji was the practitioner of Ahinsa (Non Violence) so this day is also celebrated as the International Day of Non Violence by the United Nations.

We also celebrate the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shasthri on 2nd Oct.

The importance of this day was shared by Sudhanshu Shetty of grade 8.

The Navaratri festival that celebrates the defeat of Mahishasura by Goddess Durga signifies the victory of good over evil. In some parts of India, people observe fast during Navaratri. On the last day the perform puja and break their fast.The festival is devoted to goddess Durga, whose nine forms are worshipped on nine days. The last day is also Rama Navami, the birthday of Rama.

The importance of Navrathri was shared by Siddharth Shetty of grade 7

Our Principal Sir Uzwal Menezes paid homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi which was followed by his message to the students.

The students joined in to sing the School Anthem, Naada Geethe followed by the National Anthem

Havan of grade 4 led us through the pledge.

Hiba of grade 5 took us through the news around the world and back home.

The assembly came to an end with all of us taking part in wishing all those students and teachers who shared their birthdays this month.
