Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration

Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti, the joyous occasion of the birthday of two great patriots 'Mahatma Gandhiji' and 'Lal Bahadur Shastriji' was celebrated with patriotic fervor, in The Yenepoya School and Yenepoya PU College, virtually on October 2, 2021. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhiji is fondly known as the ‘Father of the Nation’, and played the most significant role in India's independence movement, holding demonstrations through non-violent means. Lal Bahadur Shastriji was the second Prime Minister of Independent India and composed the slogan of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan"

The programme began with the introduction by the MC, Ms Kadeeja Afrin, student of class IX. This was followed by seeking of God’s blessings with a prayer by Mr Shahan Mohammed, student of class VI. The playing of the school anthem roused the spirits of all present. Ms Manvi M Poojary, student of class X, welcomed the gathering with her heartwarming words. The MC then called upon the Vice Principal Mr. Padmanabhan to speak a few words. He delivered an inspiring speech on the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Highlighting the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a compilation of videos of our students illustrating how they contribute towards cleanliness was displayed, encouraging all to spread the crusade of cleanliness. The students of the school paid special tribute to the Father of the Nation through their critical analysis on the Gandhian way of life. The students dressed as Gandhiji imitated his gestures, which represented his life. The students of the school paid a creative homage to Gandhiji by making a thoughtful skit on the life of Gandhiji followed by a mesmerizing patriotic song. The importance of the day was accentuated by Ms Vaishnavi, student of class VIII.

Ms Chaitra R M, student of class X, presented a beautiful summary on the life of Lal Bahadur Shastriji. A series of photos showcasing the legacy of the simple yet meaningful life of Lal Bahadur Shastri gave us a perspective of his patriotism and dedication to our country. A few students spoke on the life of Lal Bahadur Shastriji and enunciated his crucial contributions for the growth of our country. The students from different classes recited bhajans to pay tributes to Gandhiji. Principal of the school Mrs. Grace Noronha told the students to follow the footsteps of the Father of the Nation with her eloquent words. Ms Ansh Kathija, student of class IX, proposed the vote of thanks. The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
