Karnataka celebrates “Kanakadasa Jayanthi” on November 22 every year to pay tribute to Shri Kanaka Dasa, who was the 15th century Saint and a social reformer. Kanaka Dasa was a Haridasa, and renowned composer of Carnatic music, poet, musician and philosopher. He is famous for his keertanas and upabhoga, compositions for Carnatic Music. He used simple Kannada language for his compositions. Kanakadasa Jayanthi was celebrated with great enthusiasm in our school on November 22, 2021.
The programme began with the invocation of God’s blessings with a prayer song by the school choir. Mazin, of class VII, took the pledge on behalf of the student body. The thought for the day was shared by Raunak student of class VII. Sarah Sakina of class VII emphasized the importance of the day. Siddharth Shetty, of class VI, dressed up as Kanakadasa and sang Keerthanas along with Vanditha, Chinmay and Nihal C K enchanting everyone present. The MC Ms Lavanya then called upon our beloved Principal Mrs. Grace Noronha to speak a few words.She gave an engaging talk that included some fascinating facts about Kanakadasa. She said the principles and preachings of Bhaktapur Kanakadasa need to be emulated by everyone.The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
