30th January is the day when Nathuram Godse assassinated the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. On this day, Martyr’s Day also known as Sarvodaya Day or Shaheed Diwas, The Yenepoya School organized a short programme as a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhiji. The Programme began with a Prayer song lead by Mr. Connie and team, after which the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi was garlanded and a lamp was lit by the Principal, Mr. Joseph Mechirath, along with a few other Faculty Members. Our Principal then sang the notable Bhajan which was widely popularised by Mahatma Gandhi, ‘Ragupathi Raghav Raja Ram’ and then gave a short speech. The gathering then observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to the Father of our Nation. The Programme culminated with the singing of the National Anthem. The Programme was emceed by Ms. Deeksha Amin, Coordinator, Grades 8 to 10.
